Guidelines
PRODUCTS WE FEATURE
We search for low-sugar, low-carb sweets that taste good and satisfy cravings and then we share our favorite finds with you. We look for products that contain up to five grams of sugar and up to 15 net carbs per serving. We focus on products that contain very small amounts of sugar and/or natural dairy sugar, or that use natural sweeteners such as stevia, monkfruit and erythritol—which do not raise blood sugar or have potentially negative health impacts. Occasionally, we include products that contain additional types of sugar alcohols or sweeteners if these products are exceptional in the world of low-sugar, low-carb sweets (and there are not yet replacements) and are products normally consumed in small amounts (like licorice). For products that are traditionally flour based, we look for alternatives that contain nut flours (or coconut flour), flax seed and other meals, oats and other low-glycemic whole grains, and that don’t contain tapioca, rice, potato or other high-glycemic starches.
The mail order products we feature offer an “affiliate link” (a special tracking code) that allows us to earn a commission for any purchases made as a result of visiting our site—income that would help fund this website’s operation. Because we feature products we have sampled and enjoyed in our mail order section, we’re very happy to be affiliated with companies that produce these products! In some cases, some of the products we like only offer indirect affiliate links through distributors like Amazon: as such, we participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
If there is a product you think we should know about, or you wish to send us a product sample, please contact us.
Our platform is designed for consumers seeking low-sugar, low-carb sweets. The information and services we provide should never substitute or replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Our website also contains links to external websites. We cannot guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness, or completeness of the information on these external sites.
LOCAL SWEETS MAP AND REVIEWS BY YOU
If you’ve come across a low-carb sweet made by a restaurant, caterer, café, chef, food stand/truck, airline, etc. that you want to share, please contact us. We can’t wait to add these to our ‘local sweets’ section and/or on our sweets map! Because we assume no responsibility for the quality, ingredients and nutritional claims of user-recommended products and/or freshly-made offerings (unlike mail order products with nutrition labels), we use the honor system—and the feedback and ratings channels that consumers already use—to determine the taste and dietary standards of local/freshly-made sweets.
